historical Renovation

New building for a historic structure with fresh life and functionality.

project summary:

Historically significant structures provide many complexities to the design process. The exciting part, and the reason why our team has a passion for these projects, is the opportunity to breathe fresh air and rejuvenated beauty into the classic homes of the Gallatin Valley.

This homeowner approached Plum Design Lab looking to upgrade the existing structure and build a newly proposed accessory dwelling unit (ADU) as part of a long-term investment strategy. This ADU would replace a non-conforming, unusable, carport that was currently attached to the residence. Our team took the time to understand the essence of the existing structure before considering what should come next. The finished product provides a new take on the old and another century of life for this historic property.
